St Gregory The Great Student Dropoff/Pickup Policy


Morning Drop-Off

Students arriving prior to 7:45am should report to the playground (weather permitting) or to the school cafeteria.  Students should not go into their classrooms until they are supervised by their teachers.  The teachers will come down to escort their students up to the classrooms.  Parents may not go upstairs nor should they engage teachers in a conversation at this time as teachers are involved in supervising their students.  If you need to speak with your child's teacher, you may leave a message in the school office for the teacher to call you or to schedule a meeting.

Students arriving after classes have begun are to go directly to their classrooms.  They must enter quietly without disturbing the other students.  PARENTS MAY NOT ENTER CLASSROOMS.  Only Pre-K parents may escort their children to the classroom.


Dismissal

Pre-K children should be picked up from the classroom.

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 will exit the school via the exit closest to Columbus Avenue at 2:30pm and will proceed to the basketball court.  Parents must wait on the playground side of the gate.  As soon as your child's teacher sees you, he/she will dismiss your child through the middle gate between the basketball court and the playground.  Please do not pull your child off the line.  Wait until your child has been dismissed by his/her teacher.

Students in grades 6-8 will exit the school via the door closest to Amsterdam Avenue at 2:45pm and should quietly leave the school premises.

In order to maintain a safe dismissal for all students, parents should not congregate in front of the school exits.  Dismissal is a time of close supervision by the teachers; Please do not engage teachers in a conversation until they have completed their supervision.
